Why is my street named this?

The Paddocks Neighborhood has some really interesting street names - what do they mean?

Most of them are famous horse races or famous horses, raised right here on "Ryehill Farm" i.e. The Paddocks!

Belmont

Ring Dancer

Ring Dancer was born April 1, 1978 and was jockeyed by Larry Saumell and trained by Donald Hayes. Ring Dancer retired with 10 first place finishes and earned $127,887 in his 37-race career.

Heavenly Cause

Heavenly Cause won four of nine starts at age two, including the Grades 1 Selima and Frizette Stakes and was voted the 1980 Eclipse Award for American Champion Two-Year-Old Filly.

In 1988 Homebuilder won the Fayette Stakes.

Caveat

Bred in Maryland by Ryehill Farm, he was sired by Kentucky Derby winner Cannonade out of The Axe II mare Cold Hearted.[3] To date, Caveat is one of eleven Maryland-bred colts to win a Triple Crown race.

Caveat was owned by the partnership of August Belmont IV, Robert Kirkham, and his breeder, James P. Ryan. He was conditioned for racing by U.S. Racing Hall of Fame trainer Woody Stephens.

Quadratic

Quadratic was bred in Maryland by Ryehill Farm owner Jim Ryan and raced for Ryan and August Belmont IV. He won five stakes during his 19-start career including the 1977 Cowdin Stakes (gr. II). At three, he ran second or third in six graded stakes, retiring with six wins from 19 starts and earnings of $233,941. He missed the Triple Crown races due to a knee injury.

Cefis

Cefis, who was the first of three consecutive stakes winners produced from the Dancing Champ mare Ring Dancer, began his stallion career at Rockburn in Virginia. For his career, he sired just 67 foals, 27 of which were winners. He is buried at Middle Creek.

He was trained his entire career by Woody Stephens, whose middle name was Cefis.

Smart Heiress

Smart Heiress won the Garden City Stakes at Belmont Park and was trained by Woody Stephens.
